Ireland’s Biggest Music Festival Returns to TV this August.

An bhfuil tú réidh?

If you rolled Electric Picnic, Longitude and All Together Now together…you still wouldn’t have Ireland’s biggest music festival. That honour goes to Fleadh Cheoil which welcomes 500,000 music fans every year, and it keeps on growing! 2019 sees the Fleadh return to Drogheda for a second year. Similar to the BBC’s Glastonbury coverage, TG4’s flagship music programme FleadhTV provides an immersive experience of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann to audiences around the world. This high-quality production is brought to you by two time IFTA award winning company Gifted Empire Productions as they enter into their seventh year of making FleadhTV

Broadcast live over four evenings from Thursday August 15th to Sunday 18th, FleadhTV is on air from 8.30pm until 11.30pm nightly on TG4 and will be available worldwide on the TG4 player, www.fleadhcheoil.ie and on www.fleadh.tv. FleadhTV airs for three hours of the best of Irish music. It’s fresh, it’s lively and most importantly it’s pure entertainment.

FleadhTV’s presenters have a wealth of knowledge and rich heritage when it comes to Irish culture and music. Hector Ó hEochagáin needs no introduction! Hector’s “patch” on FleadhTV is at the heart of the Fleadh, broadcasting from the streets of Drogheda, watch the crowds gather round him like the Pied Piper of Laurence Street! He has just wrapped filming a brand new series travelling the length and breadth of the States for airing later in 2019. Returning again this year is presenter Doireann Ní Ghlacáin. She is currently completing a PhD thesis in Sean Nós singing in the Irish department of NUIG, and recently released her debut album, ’The Housekeepers’ earlier this year. In the past, Doireann has presented Tradfest and Gradam Ceoil. From a musical family in Irish musical heritage, Doireann hosts the Main Stage nightly. Our brand new presenter for 2019 is from musical royalty. Róisín O will debut her presenter skills at the acoustic stage. Róisín is no stranger to traditional Irish music herself, her performance alongside her brother Danny and cousin Aoife or “Grace” for the 1916 Commemorations stands at 500,000 views on YouTube! Róisín teamed up with John Broe (Miracle Bell) in 2015, writing songs like ‘Give It Up’, ‘If You Got Love’ and ‘Better This Way’ before the duo eventually formed the band Thanks Brother in 2018. Róisín is a fantastic new addition to the FleadhTV family.

The lineup for series seven of FleadhTV is shaping up to be one of the best yet. The production team pride themselves in bringing the very best to audience. Acts already confirmed include:

Hot House Flowers :: Frankie Gavin & The Provenance :: Horslips :: Kilfenora Céilí Band :: Lankum :: Zoe Conway with Dubliners legend John Sheahan :: The Stevie Dunne Band ::  Altan :: Fidil :: Kate Rusby Band and more!

What makes FleadhTV stand out is the supporting social media working year round in the background, TV show fans get weekly doses of the highlights from previous years. In 2018 FleadhTV’s organic social media reached over 2.1million people. Peaking during FleadhTV series run, the social channels saw several videos reach over 200,000 views. The outstanding thing is some of these videos were of incredible talented young musicians who had or were competing in the Fleadh competitions. From unknown to social media hit!

Dublin-born Róisín O first emerged on the Irish music scene in 2012 with her debut album ‘The Secret Life of Blue’. Recorded in France with Grammy Award-winning producer David Odlum (The Frames) the album was described as “brilliant and addictive”, “melancholic, tear-inducing and fascinating” (Hot Press ****).

Since her debut she has shared the stage with a host of internationally-renowned artists, including Lionel Richie, Bryan Ferry, Brad Paisley and The Coronas as well as headlining her own tours in Ireland, Germany, The US and Australia. In 2016 she was invited to perform at JJ Abrams’ Oscar Wilde Awards in LA where she shared the bill with Snow Patrol to play for Stephen Spielberg, James Corden, and more. As part of Ireland’s 2016 Centenary celebrations, Róisín, alongside her brother, Danny O’Reilly, and cousin, Aoife Scott, were invited by RTÉ to perform the song ‘Grace’ in Kilmainham Gaol. Some weeks later, nearly half a million people, at home and abroad, tuned in to watch the performance as part of RTÉ’s Centenary Programme. It currently has over half a million views on YouTube. Tá an fhéile cheoil is mó in Eirinn ag filleadh ar an teilifís i mí Lúnasa. An bhfuil tú réidh?!

Dá gcuirfeá An Picnic Leictreach, Longitude agus All Together Now le chéile…. fós fhéin ní bheadh sí ar an bhféile cheoil is mó in Éirinn. Sin onóir a théann chuig Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, féile a chuireann fáilte roimh 500,000 gach bliain agus atá ag fás léi gach bliain. I 2019, beidh an Fhleadh ag filleadh ar Dhroichead Átha don dára bliain as a chéile. Ar nós Glastonbury ar an mBBC, tugann FleadhTV deis do lucht féachana ar fud na cruinne a bheith i lár an aonaigh, ag Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, gan an tolg a fhágail. Is iad an comhlacht Gifted Empire Productions, comhlacht a ghnóthaigh dhá IFTA, atá ag tabhairt faoin leiriúcháin uaillmhianach seo, FleadhTV, don seachtú uair.

Beidh FleadhTV a chraoladh ó Déardaoin 15 Lúnasa go Domhnach 18 Lúnasa idir 8.30 i.n. agus 11.30. i.n. ar TG4. Beidh sé ar fáil ar fud na cruinne ar TG4 player, www.fleadhcheoil.ie agus ar www.fleadh.tv. Craolfaidh FleadhTV trí uair a chloig do cheol traidisiúnta d’ardchaighdéan gach oíche. Clár úr, lán fuinnimh, beomhar agus níos tábhachtaí fós siamsúil.

Tá cuimse eolas agus oidhreacht luachmhar ag láithreoirí FleadhTV chomh fada ‘s a bhaineann sé le ceol agus cultúr na hÉireann. Ní gá Hector Ó hEochagáin a chur in aithne! Bíonn Hector i lár an aonaigh ag an bhFleadh, ag craoladh ó shráideanna Dhroichead Átha, na sluaite á leanacht síos Sráid Laurence ar nós an Piobaire Breac! Tá sé díreach tagtha abhaile as Méiriceá, áit a raibh sé ag taifeadadh sraith úrnua a bheidh ar an scáileán níos dearnaí i 2019. Tá Doireann Ní Ghlacáin ag filleadh arís i mbliana. Tá sí i mbun tráchtais PHD faoin amhránaíocht ar an sean-nós le Roinn na Gaeilge in Ollscoil na hÉireann Gaillimh faoi láthair. Sheol sí a céad albam ‘The Housekeepers’ níos luaithe i mbliana. Chomh maith le seo ar fad, bhí Doireann mar láithreoir ar Tradfest agus Gradam Ceoil. Duine do shliocht dhá theaglach sár-aitheanta saol an cheoil traidisiúnta na hÉireann í – Clann Uí Riada agus Clann Glackin.  Beidh sí ag cur príomhstáitse FleadhTV i láthair.

Is duine eile do shliocht ríoga an cheoil í ár láithreoir úrnua Róisín O. Seo an chéad uair a bheidh Róisín O ag cur clár teilifíse i láthair agus beidh sí ina bean an tí ag árdán acoustach FleadhTV. Ní haon stráinséir í Róisín don cheol traidisiúnta, tá 500,000 radharc ag an leagan don amhrán ‘Grace’ a chas sí lena dearthair Danny agus a col ceathrar Aoife do chomóradh 1916 ar YouTube! Tháinig Róisín le chéile le John Broe (Miracle Bell) i 2015 ag scríobh amhráin cosúil le ‘Give it Up, ‘If you Got Love’ agus ‘Better This Way’. Bhunaigh siad beirt banna ceoil Thanks Brother le chéile i 2018. Is iontach an rud go mbeidh Róisín páirteach linn i mbliana.

Tá FleadhTV ag fás agus ag forbairt gach bliain agus is cinnte go mbeidh sraith a seacht ar an gceann is mó go dtí seo. Cuireann foireann léiriúcháin FleadhTV scoth an cheoil agus siamsaíocht ós comhair an lucht féachana. Cuid do na bannaí atá deimhnithe go dtí seo i mbliana ná:

Hot House Flowers :: Frankie Gavin & The Provenance :: Horslips :: Kilfenora Céilí Band :: Lankum :: Zoe Conway with Dubliners legend John Sheahan :: The Stevie Dunne Band ::  Altan :: Fidil :: Kate Rusby Band and more!

Ceann do na rudaí a sheasann amach faoi FleadhTV ná an cur chuige ilardán, ilmheáin atá ghníomhach don bhliain iomlán. Cuirtear amach buaicphointí na sraitheanna go seachtainiúil. I 2018, d’éirigh le FleadhTV 2.1 milliúin radharc a fháil ar na hárdáin éagsúla, le níos mó na 200,000 radharc ar chuid de na físeáin. An rud is súntasaí faoi seo ná gur físeáin iad seo do cheoltóirí óga cumasacha a bhí in iomaíocht i gcomórtais na fléidhe. Gan iomrá go dtí ‘hit’ mór ar na meáin shóisialta!

Sean Keane agus Dara Morley – Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears – 253,000 views

Sorcha Ní Scullaí U12 Uilleann Pipe Champion – 208,000 views

Nós Nua – Louth Youth Folk Orchestra – 170,000 views

Ní bheidh ach rud amhain le breathnú air ar an teilifís nó ar líne idir 15 Lúnasa agus 18 Lúnasa ón 8.30 i.n. go dtí 11.30 i.n. – FleadhTV. An bhfuil tú réidh?
